Pav Bhaji

A favourite across the country, PavBhaji is quick and easy to make and will satisfy the appetite of every one of your guests and family members. Spicy and full of masala, PavBhaji is essentially India's version of fast food, and is a must know recipe for every home cook. Don't forget to dab a little butter onto the pav to wrap up the flavour!


  • Boiled Potatoes 4 medium
  • Chopped Tomatoes 4 medium
  • Finely Chopped Onions 2 medium
  • Chopped Green capsicum 1 medium
  • Boiled Cauliflower 1/2 small
  • Boiled Carrots
  • Boiled Green peas shelled1/2 cup
  • Green chillies 3-4
  • Fresh coriander leaves 1/4 cup
  • Minced Ginger 1 inch piece
  • Minced Garlic 8-10 cloves
  • Lemons 2
  • Oil 3 tbs
  • Salt to taste
  • Pavbhaji masala 1 1/2 tbs
  • Butter 3 tbs
  • Pav 8


  • Mashpeeled boiled potatoes, carrots, cauliflower and peas together. Keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a kadaiand add chopped onions.
  • Sauté till onions are light brown. Add ginger, garlic and green chillies. Sauté till mixture is golden brown.
  • Add tomatoes and green capsicum. Stir till tomatoes become soft.
  • Add the mixed boiled vegetables and stir.
  • Addpavbhaji masala, turmeric and salt.
  • Add water to bring consistency and mix it well. Cook for another 4-5 minutes. Keep mashing the vegetables till they are soft and nicely mashed together.

Garnish with lemon juice and chopped onions.

Serve hot with pav buns.
